The organizing committee of the Institute for Multicultural Integration at ย้ถนธ฿วๅ University, Seoul, Korea, invites scholars, researchers, educators, and practitioners to submit proposals for the international conference “From Boundaries to Bridges: Multicultural Education and the Making of Global Citizens” funded by the National Research Foundation of Korea. This conference aims to foster dialogue on the evolving landscape of multicultural education, with a focus on how educational systems can cultivate global citizenship, intercultural competence, and more inclusive social futures.

 

Across Asia, increasing linguistic, cultural, and ethnic diversity continues to reshape educational practices and policy priorities. In this context, bridging boundaries—between cultures, communities, identities, and nations—has become an essential task for educators. This conference seeks to explore innovative, context-responsive approaches that promote harmony, equity, and global citizenship through multicultural and intercultural education.

 

Areas of Interest

We welcome proposals that address, but are not limited to, the following themes:

 

·         Multicultural and intercultural education policies across Asia and beyond

·         Curriculum, pedagogy, and professional development for culturally and linguistically diverse classrooms

·         Assessment of intercultural and global citizenship competencies, student agency, and civic engagement

·         Social justice and DEI perspectives in multicultural and global citizenship education (GCE)

·         Migration, diaspora communities, and youth identity formation

·         Sustainability education addressing climate change and ecological justice

·         Digital learning, OER, and equitable educational practices in multicultural/GCE contexts

·         Comparative studies of multicultural education and GCE across Asian and other international settings

·         Community-based education and partnerships promoting Indigenous and local knowledge, languages, and cultural practices
